CNC machining has "immense impact"

Story added 10 November 2008.

CNC machining has had an immense impact on the manufacturing mechanised industry, it has been claimed.

The machines allow for more flexibility and production, are cost effective and easy to operate, states PB Marble Services.

CNC machining consists of milling machines, grinding, polishing and sculpting functions.

"The machine will automatically terminate the processing of any requisite profile by effortless setting," the firm explains.

"Products are of elevated accuracy and good glossiness rate."

CNC machining is particularly suitable for creating high grade basin plank and other abnormal products, it adds, and can allow individuals to cut curves as a straight line.

Earlier this month, one industry expert said that precision engineering firms see increased competitiveness as the way forward.

Geoff Bryant, managing director of Citizen Machinery, commented that firms are still keen to find ways to improve the productivity of their machining centres.

Following an open day at the firm, he added that investment has been the "mainstay" of the small turned parts industry for the past ten years.
