Engineering firm given contracts

Story added 24 November 2008.

A European engineering firm has been awarded a multi-million pound contract.

Poyry, a company which is based in Finland and Switzerland, has won deals with Woodside Energy worth 2.7 million euros (£2.3 million).

The agreement involves a Pluto liquefied natural gas project in Western Australia, it may interest those in the precision engineering sector to learn.

Poyry will take on roles such as covering flow assurance and providing process engineering services required for the scheme, which is the fastest ever developed project of its kind.

The European company will also handle the ongoing attention needed regarding operating philosophies and manuals, as well as acting in a capacity to support start-up procedures and commissioning.

Earlier this month, Poyry announced Esa Ikäheimonen, who has previously worked for Shell, as its new chief financial officer.

Heikki Malinen, president and chief executive officer for the group, stated he was "very excited" at the appointment.
