International standards secured by Irish precision engineering firm

Story added 31 July 2009.

Takumi Precision Engineering, a company specialising in machine tools based in Limerick, has been awarded two international standards to allow it to expand to overseas markets.

The organisation revealed that it is now the only company in Ireland to hold both ISO13485 and AS9100, allowing it to look to the medicine and aerospace markets on a global scale.

Managing director of the firm Gerry Reynolds is particularly pleased with the recognition, stating that it proves great abilities in workmanship, training and traceability.

He continued: "We can provide solutions from component manufacture, through to supply chain management, taking care of all validation and regulatory requirements.

"With Takumi, as the manufacturing partner, our customers leave supply chain issues with us and can focus on growing their market share."

Takumi is currently in contracts with a number of high profile companies including Dell Computers, Motorola and Conway Engineering, though it also deals with a wide range of smaller businesses domestically.
