Machining centres get big boost from ICS

Story added 22 January 2009.

ICS Robotics is helping CNC machine tools users to upgrade their systems in light of cost-effective measures brought in by many precision engineering companies, it has been reported.

According to Manufacturing Talk, many firms are struggling in light of the current economic climate and many are opting to look to tooling up such machines as CNC lathes instead of replacing them outright, with ICS describing its ability to offer different solutions.

Explaining an optimisation project, the news resource stated: "The objective of the project was to prevent scrap parts from being processed by the CNC lathes and to ensure that only dimensionally correct parts (post-machining) are transferred out of the cell for packing to the customer."

As a result, the project resulted in averting 100 hours of wasted machining time over the course of the year, showing the options open for companies facing tough financial times.

ICS was established in 1989 and serves a customer base made up of over 90 manufacturing sites in the UK and Ireland.
