Mitsui targets low and mid-volume customers with CNC machining centre

Story added 15 July 2009.

Precision engineering firm Mitsui Seiki has announced that its consumers are looking to its CNC vertical and horizontal machining centres for low to mid-volume manufacturing.

The firm explained that its Vertex machine is able to process ring gears up to 16in in size, explaining that it is able to deliver the "critically precise" machining demanded by the modern market.

Mark Speier, a sales engineer at Mitsui Seiki, explained that product reliability is at the forefront of many people's minds, with the company's products also being able to deliver a range of gearboxes and gear cases on one machine alone.

He continued: "The traditional gear-cutting machines may run faster; however, [as a result of] the tooling economics, improved accuracy through one-setup machining and improved process control, the overall cost may be advantageous, especially in low-volume runs."

Mitsui Seiki specialises in vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines which work in up to 5 axes, while also providing a range of jig borers to the market.
