New CNC machine 'improves performance by 25%'

Story added 11 March 2009.

The linear drive technology associated with the latest Gildemeister CTX beta 800 linear universal turning centre has such high dynamics that there is a registered 25 per cent performance gain, it is stated.

It was announced by DMG of Luton, the supplier of Gildemeister products in the UK, that the CTX beta 800 is able to achieve an acceleration of 1g to 60m/min rapid traverse, improving capabilities on preceding releases by the company.

The CNC machine allows for a main spindle chuck diameter of 400mm, with a swing of 700mm and a counter-spindle chuck with a radius of 125mm.

DMG also noted the milling machine's high-precision glass scales on the X and Z axis to allow positioning of up to one micron, pairing the system with a 19-inch screen for ERGOLine CNC control, a 3D simulation program allowing for interactivity on the project.

A high-visibility working area with scratch-resistant and shatterproof windows also keeps the environment open for operators.

Gildemeister employs nearly 6,000 people in 70 locations across the globe, including Austria, Hungary, Poland and the Middle East.
