Now available from Floyd Automatic Tooling is the new internal grooving and hook tools for face grooving operations from Applitec Swiss Tooling. This new program has been developed to meet the demands of turned part manufacturers using sliding head turning centres to produce small and complex parts.

The turning program is a welcome addition to the well established Applitec cutting tool ranges that now deliver additional capability for the end user. Working in conjunction with customers, the innovative manufacturer has developed the series of hook and grooving tools to meet the demand for a highly capable and versatile cutting tool system. The new ECO-Line enables the end user to conduct face grooving, internal grooving, threading, internal threading and general turning operations.

Applitec has developed the new ECO-Line program to include a new internal grooving insert, the 261Ri and 261Li type of right and left hand inserts. The new insert line, along with the complete range of inserts from the current Applitec ECO-Line program can be used on the new grooving insert tool holders.

The new tool holders are available with a variety of options to meet the diverse needs of manufacturers producing intricate components at high production levels. The tool holders can be acquired with a square or round shank with a number of clearance forms for numerous machining procedures. All cutting tools in the range incorporate Applitec’s grooved insert clamping system. The innovative system has teeth on the cutting tool and the insert that both mesh to prevent insert movement. When screwed in place the system guarantees extremely rigid and robust machining. This delivers exceptional surface finishes and tool life beyond competitor product offerings.

With two cutting edges per insert, the highly productive new cutting tools are available in widths of 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3 and 3.2mm with a cutting length of 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 6 and 6.5mm. The inserts also provide the option of square end, radius, angled for chamfering or a 60 degree point for threading operations. With a vast array of options, not to mention the additional insert options from the rest of the ECO-Line that are interchangeable, Floyd can now offer a tooling range far beyond the capability levels of competitor offerings.
