Precision engineering businesses looking to expand their
CNC machining operations and are interested in the laser removal of material may look to GF AgieCharmilles after it announced a new range of laser ablation machines.
Launched at Milan's EMO 09, the three-to-five-axis offerings are the first of their kind to be sold by GF AgieCharmilles, with the systems built to complement the company's machine tool portfolio, which includes high-performance wire and spark erosion electrical discharge machining ranges, and
vertical machining centres.
Managing director at AgieCharmilles Martin Spencer explained that the company's laser ablation machines allow manufacturers to texturise, engrave, mark and label products such as machined parts and electrodes.
He continued: "Compared to other conventional surface treatment technologies and methods on the market like chemical etching, our laser ablation machines offer distinct economic, ecological and process advantages to manufacturers."
All machines have a patented laser head that has a programmable tilting head, a high-resolution camera for fine positioning, a laser red pointer, 3D touch probe (0.001mm resolution) and different focal lens capability.
At EMO, AgieCharmilles demonstrated a number of technologies, including its abilities in producing high-quality components for the automotive industry, such as alloy wheels.
