New machining centre introduced to UK

Whitehouse Machine Tools has brought a new horizontal-spindle machining centre to the UK.

As the sole UK agent for Japanese machine tool manufacturer OKK it is offering the centre, which is capable of fully interpolative five axis CNC machining of prismatic components.

The HM-X6000 twin-pallet-change machine can accommodate components up to 750 mm diameter by 700 mm high and a maximum of 650 kg.

It is the first horizontal five axis machining centre to be produced by OKK and features a tilting trunnion/rotary table design to generate a holding force of 10,000 Newtons.

Both mechanical and hydraulic methods are used in the clamping and pressure is maintained even if the power supply is interrupted.

OKK has also designed "considerable speed" into the machine in order to give high productivity and minimise machine idle time.
