Partnership 'develops CNC manufacturing'

A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Bradford and precision engineering firm NTR Ltd has been hailed as an "outstanding success".

NTR, a tool refurbishment specialist which works with CNC machine tools in the automotive, aeronautical and sub-contract markets, has had its KTP with the company for over seven years and aims to explore the benefits of new technologies with the establishment.

By bringing in students and other experts from the institution, NTR spoke of its push towards CAD/CAM integration and the linking of databases to CNC precision engineering technology, evolving its business and quality control in the process.

The university's Dr Khursid Khan said of the agreement: "It is satisfying to know that businesses can utilise the knowledge and skills of high calibre graduate associates and their academic supervisors, to enhance their competitive advantage."

Bradford's university was established in 1966 and was the first institution outside of London to offer part-time courses.
