Rainford Launches Catalogues for Precise Applications

Story added 25 January 2011.

Micro precision specialist Rainford Precision Ltd has now launched a full range of application specific cutting tool catalogues to give its customers a detailed insight into the vast array of new high end cutting tools available. Complemented by a new website, the five new catalogues enable customers to quickly locate and order the desired cutting tool without the necessity of trawling through thick cumbersome product catalogues.

The company’s ten page end mill catalogue for cast iron and non-ferrous materials is a combination of Kyocera and Union Tool square and ball nosed end mills. The selection of end mills includes cutters from 0.1 to 12mm diameter with many ranges available in 0.05 or 0.1mm increments. Suitable for machining aluminium alloys, cast iron, copper and plastics, the catalogue contains tooling with a variety of helix angles, extremely accurate ball nose diameter tolerances and corner forms from flat, sharp to round as well as the option of coated or uncoated micro grain or super micro grain carbide cutters.

The hole making catalogue contains drills from Union Tool and threadmills and reamers from Kyocera. This remarkable catalogue includes the C-UMD and UTDLX micro precision Union Tool drill ranges. The C-UMD drills are available from 0.1mm to 2mm diameters in 0.01mm increments with 2 to 6mm drills available in 0.05mm increments. The UTDLX series of deep hole drills offers a length to diameter ratio of 15 and is available from 0.3mm to 3mm in 0.05 increments. This astoundingly small scale is maintained throughout the catalogue with the Kyocera reamers also available in 0.01mm increments. The threadmills can be specified with single or multi-flute options that are capable of machining threads from M0.5 to M8. Eliminating the need for specialist taps, the threadmills can machine a diverse range of material types and coatings. The single flute threadmill can be utilised to increase thread depth and with its 60 degree inclusive angle is suitable from metric, UNC and UNF threads, with all adjustments made through the machine control.

For the milling of steel up to 70HRc, alloy steels, titanium and copper, Rainford Precision has printed an extensive catalogue containing Union Tool end mills. This catalogue contains over 21 product ranges that each incorporate a wide variety of forms, flutes, coatings, helix angles, shank diameters and lengths. This vast array of high end products is available from 0.06 to 12mm diameter. Like the hole making catalogue, the milling brochure demonstrates that Rainford Precision has the UK’s most extensive range of micro tools either in stock or available for immediate delivery.

Specifically for the milling of medium to hard steels, Rainford Precision has launched its Samurai Endmill catalogue. The Samurai series incorporates three ranges that offer diameters from 1 to 12mm with corner radii of 0.3 to 3mm. The three ranges in the Samurai series offer exceptional tool life, productivity improvements and surface finishes for a diverse range of material types and applications, making the Samurai Series a generic range to meet the specific needs of industry.

For more specialised applications, Rainford Precision has compiled a catalogue of diamond coated Union Tool end mills. Suitable for graphite and additional abrasive materials that are commonly used in the motorsport, aerospace and medical sectors; the ten diamond coated product offerings will undoubtedly exceed customer expectation levels. Capable of rough to finish machining of abrasive materials; whatever the machining dilemma, the Rainford Precision diamond coated tooling catalogue can provide the solution.

The new Rainford Precision website engages the customer with an abundance of product information on all the cutting tool ranges as well as providing information on machine tools that are also available from Rainford Precision. As a leading supplier of micro machining solutions, the new website provides details of the Kyocera and Union Tool cutting tool products as well as information on Deckel grinders and micro industry leading machining centres from Kern. All the products are supported by detailed case histories that identify proven solutions to end users as examples of how customers can benefit from the expert service. The cutting tool product catalogues can be requested on-line along with details of the extensive re-grind service that Rainford provides to support its growing customer base.
