Scottish firm invests more in CNC lathes

Story added 08 September 2009.

Castle Precision Engineering has put more money towards its future through a major payment for CNC lathes and other important systems, it has been reported.

Marcus Tiefenbrun, the son of Castle's founder Jack, explained that its £6 million investment into high-end precision engineeringmachine tools is able to improve the accuracy of measurement as well as the company's transformation into a world leader, the Herald revealed.

The expert noted that as the company deals with aero engines, he has to recognise that Castle works within "the most safety-conscious sector of engineering".

He continued: "Each part has to be machined to the 'nth' degree and checked again and again.

"We were the first company to actually use probing to measure components inside CNC lathes. That ensures that we can provide ultra-accurate parts which our customers desire and deserve."

This week, TCT Magazine reported on Exeter Advanced Technologies' investment in a compact ProJet HD3000 3D printer, which is already delivering progress and profit for the institution.
