SecoPoint Systems help reduce inventory consumption by as much as 20% - 40%’!
Seco Tools, the leading manufacturer and supplier of carbide cutting tools and tooling systems solutions, is urging manufacturers to consider the significant cost savings, manufacturing process improvements and overall business efficiencies that can be achieved by investing in the company’s range of SecoPoint Systems.
For well over 10 years, Seco has been promoting the benefits of its SecoPoint tooling and consumable vending technology solutions to manufacturers, and its products such as SupplyBay Plus and Smart Drawer Systems have proved particularly successful.
Says Peter Chadwick, Manager, SecoPoint Systems:
‘SecoPoint Systems have proven their worth in helping manufacturers drive down operational costs and improve productivity.’
However, some manufacturers, unaware of the benefits of vending technology solutions may be put off by the initial cost of the investment...the upheaval created in implementing the systems, and the time, effort and resource required to integrate and administer them.
But according to Adrian Walker, ‘the systems aren’t complicated and can start delivering real, bottom-line benefits from day one.’
Continues Mr Chadwick:
‘Companies find that our systems pay for themselves very quickly. Controlling consumption, improving accountability, managing inventory better and eliminating waste, and making access to materials more secure – all improve performance and productivity.
‘We estimate that our systems help reduce inventory consumption by as much as 20% - 40%’!
Some manufacturers, with concerns about the set-up costs of these systems have investigated the option of financing the acquisition via an Operating Lease (e.g. monthly repayments), and have found that the savings generated easily cover these monthly repayment commitments.
Comments Adrian Walker, Technical Support Engineer, SecoPoint Systems:
‘SecoPoint automated systems free-up staff time, enabling engineers to focus on more productive and more technical tasks, rather than administrative ones.’
Another issue that has affected the adoption of vending technology systems is the perception that they will interfere or compromise the operation and/or security of a manufacturer’s IT infrastructure and operating systems.
Says Mr Walker:
‘SecoPoint systems do not log into a manufacturer’s network or communicate with any other server, and each SecoPoint device only communicates with a single data centre IP address or URL.
‘Devices can be connected to a standard network, a guest network or a DSL line depending on what’s best for a customer.’
Furthermore Seco stress that customer’s transactional data is stored in a secure website protected from unauthorised access.
Concludes Mr Chadwick:
‘For any and every company operating key supply chain initiatives such as -: Lean Manufacturing; Cell-based Manufacturing; Line-side replenishment etc., there is a definite role for SecoPoint Systems.
‘Our SecoPoint team is available to help customers determine and then decide on the optimum solution.’
SecoPoint Systems
a) Smart Drawer System
Smart Drawer System is a low cost automated solution that helps manufacturers control, track and manage inventories and critical assets - at the point of use.
Smart Drawer technology is extremely versatile and can be configured to allow users to choose the optimum level of access, control and accountability they require.
Drawers can be organised to provide part number control for single-use, consumable items (e.g. cutting tools, inserts etc.), and returnable, multi-use items (e.g. fixtures, clamps, work-holding equipment etc.), or can provide high-density storage capability.
b) SupplyBay Plus
SupplyBay Plus Is a rugged vending system that is recognised as one of the most versatile on the market.
It is a heavy-duty system, performance-engineered for harsh, industrial environments and can handle high volume throughput and provide trouble-free dispensing for a wide range of industrial tools, supplies and PPE.
SupplyBay Plus features adjustable trays and dividers. Tray heights can be adjusted and re-configured to suit individual requirements. The system is also equipped with smart-motor technology to help prevent burn-out (and subsequent downtime).
