Sliding head CNC lathes 'boosted' by Floyd lines expansion

Story added 24 March 2009.

Floyd Automatic Tooling, a company based in Hertfordshire, has expanded its range of tooling options for sliding head CNC lathes, it has emerged.

The organisation has announced that the "renowned" Applitec inserts are becoming a big favourite for many users of CNC machining technology, with the Swiss manufacturer giving good results in "enhanced tool life, rigidity and surface finish".

Alongside this, Floyd is also providing precision engineering companies with tooling systems for knurling straight-cut profiles created by Hommel & Keller GmbH, which it says is perfect for small automatic screw machines and sliding head turning centres.

The construction of these tools is also enhanced by a special bushing and bearing combination which reduces tool vibration to an absolute minimum when processing large and unmanned projects.

Floyd was established in 1989 and has partnerships with some of the top names in the European tooling industry, providing solutions for lathes, rotary transfer machines and multi-spindle apparatus.
