SCHUNK has now completely reworked its series of TANDEM clamping blocks to make them part of a unique standardised modular system for highly-efficient workpiece clamping. The modular clamping system has an extremely compact performance that can develop enormous forces in confined spaces and can be used on a multitude of machine tools. The improved TANDEM system is extremely flexible and can be actuated pneumatically, hydraulically, via spring force or manually.
With the TANDEM series, Schunk is setting new standards in workholding. The one-piece rigid base body, the wedge-hook kinematics and the ground jaw guidance provides for concentrated clamping forces of up to 55kN. The excellent repeat accuracy of 0.01mm guarantees exact results. The TANDEM clamping force blocks are ideally suitable for sophisticated milling operations with high machining volumes, high cycle times and minimum tolerances. Due to the two integrated jaw interfaces, top jaws with tongue and groove, plus jaws with fine serration can also be used.
The optimized chip-deflecting outside contour and the minimum gap size prevents the penetration of swarf. Special fitting screws ensure that the unit can be repeatedly changed. Even in the case of narrowly attached clamping solutions, the TANDEM clamping blocks can be lubricated via two lubrication nipples laterally, or from the bottom-sided connection. Lubrication channels and grooves evenly distribute the grease all over the complete guiding surfaces.
The clamping blocks are available with a standard stroke, long stroke or with a fixed jaw in sizes from 64 to 250mm. The unique modular system has 30 various standardized clamping force blocks.
