West Midlands duo build engineering firm from scratch

Two West Midlands business men are celebrating the success of their precision engineering firm, Steadfast Solutions.

Gary Smith and Steve Moseley were made redundant in 2006 and decided to start a firm together, offering EDM wire erosion and EDM fast hole burning, supported by CNC machining.

They used their savings to purchase their first machine and have since increased sales by 100 per cent and seen their client base grow from four customers to 50.

"We made money out of the first machine we bought and from that one we bought two," Mr Moseley explains.

"From the two we bought three and that's how we built the business."

He adds that both he and Mr Smith have learnt from the failures of firms they have worked for previously.

Controlling costs was the main thing they had to deal with, he states.
