Latest sliding head lathe "provides new advantages"
Story added 29 October 2008.
The new sliding head lathe from Citizen Machinery UK will improve productivity on shorter-length parts, according to the firm.
It has been developed to provide additional savings when cutting expensive materials, is competitively priced, has a very small footprint and is available as a ready-to-run machining package.
The non-guide bush version of the Citizen A20-VIICL means parts with lower length to diameter ratios can be accurately machined with excellent surface finish and high levels of flexibility involving turn-milling cycles.
It also incorporates Sandvik Coromant's QS quick-change
tooling system to give a change time within 40 seconds.
Furthermore, it can cut with two tools simultaneously, features Streamline Control technology and has a lower floorspace requirement.
"This combination of control and software enables the creation of overlapped sequences to significantly reduce cycles times and introduces totally new levels of programming and operational flexibility," Citizen Machinery states.
Based in Watford, Citizen Machinery is a CNC machine tool specialist and has been operating for more than 24 years.
