New cutting tool "opens up a whole new market"
Story added 04 November 2008.
A new cutting tool from 2L will open up a new market to the job shop industry, according to the firm.
The Massachusetts-based firm has announced that it is accepting orders for its Solid Carbide Armor Mill Cutting Tools.
Used for machining hard materials such as granite, hardened steel and brick, the Armor Mill allows milling machining of materials not possible using standard endmills, 2L explains.
The centre-cutting design means the tool can also be used for drilling.
A company spokesperson comments: "The need for cutting tools that can successfully machine extremely difficult metals such as armourplate and hardened steel as well as granite and stone has been rising significantly."
The Armor Mills and Armor Drills, as well as the tools, can be used with CNC
milling machines and other industrial machining equipment.
Established in 1998, 2L designs, develops, manufactures and distributes products for the manufacturing and industrial markets.
All its tools are manufactured on fully automated
CNC machining equipment.
