New HSK A50 Tool Holder to Machine difficult to reach surfaces

Story added 13 July 2010.

With market demand for thermal shrink toolholding technology on the increase, TaeguTec has now extended its T-Shrink range of thermal tool chucks to include a new HSK A50 holder. The toolholders offer exceptional accuracy levels and a narrow design to enable the tools to machine difficult to reach surfaces.

The exciting new toolholding system has a run-out accuracy of 0.003mm that enables the holders to conduct extremely accurate machining. This run-out accuracy also improves machining performance, tool life and surface finishes when conducting high speed machining. The new T-Shrink HSK A50 offers rigid and robust machining whilst machining at speeds beyond 25,000rpm.

The new HSK A50 is an addition to the already established HSK 63 series that has proven extremely popular with manufacturers conducting precision high speed machining in sectors such as the automotive, medical, mould & die, aerospace and general subcontract industries. The new HSK A50 can accommodate tool shank diameters of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16mm with an external diameter of 21, 24 and 27mm. This narrow external diameter permits the end user to efficiently machine deep cavities and complex forms with no possibility of the toolholder colliding with the workpiece. Despite the small external diameter, the T-Shrink demonstrates remarkable rigidity to deliver phenomenal tool life and surface finishes.

The T-Shrink system has a length from the shoulder to the cutter that ranges from 80 to 95mm. This considerable length further enhances the capability of the toolholders to reach the base of cavities and thus maximise the capabilities of the T-Shrink HSK A50. This new addition to the TaeguTec T-Shrink series gives end users additional capabilities and possibilities for all their machining needs. As with all holders in the T-Shrink series, the HSK A50 requires an inductive heating device to successfully clamp the cutting tools. TaeguTec also manufactures and supplies an inductive heating device that accompanies the T-Shrink system and allows customers to improve their toolholding process and thus their machining capabilities.
