"Revolutionary" milling head launched

Story added 31 October 2008.

Soraluce has announced what it describes as a revolutionary milling head for its milling machines.

The Spanish milling centre believes it will set new standards in super-accurate, one-hit milling.

Exclusive UK agent Ward CNC says the new universal head for milling machines will reinforce Soraluce's position for highly-productive milling performance.

The new milling head as highly-accurate indexing in 0.001 degree steps and complements a range of optional automatic indexing heads, in order to give different levels of capabilities.

"With electro-spindles, Soraluce users are promised fast production cycles, high quality surface finishes and 'dual' machining capabilities," Ward CNC states.

Furthermore, it points out that by effectively doubling up machine capacity they can rough and finish with the same spindle or quickly swap the unit.

As well as this, the lifetime of the bearings is expanded to a spindle life of at least 7,000 hours due to the electro-spindles cold rotor.

Soraluce belongs to the Danobat group and has a workforce of 185.

It was the first Spanish milling machines tool manufacturer to be awarded the silver Q, which is presented to firms following the European Foundations of Quality Management.
