Upgrades announced by Hurco

Story added 18 September 2009.

A major upgrade of Hurco's best-selling compact-footprint VM range of vertical machining centres has been launched by the organisation.

Improvements to the machine tools include the addition of around 50mm to the Y and Z axes, while the 10,000 rpm spindle will be provided as standard.

The newly-designated VM10, VM20 and VM30 will also have faster electronic 20-station swing-arm toolchangers to crack down on non-cutting time while giving a further boost to improve productivity and reliability.

Rapid traverses are also now 24m/min in all axes of the milling machines.

Managing director of Hurco Europe Dave Waghorn said: "Despite the upgraded specification, the new machines are the same price as their predecessors.

"In addition we have frozen service charges for the past 24 months. We are trying to provide our customers with as much help as possible in the current economic climate."

Hurco is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the introduction of new CNC lathes, turning centres and milling machines - the biggest product introduction in its history.
