Radan Drives Machines at Baltic Trade Fair

The 2018 release of sheetmetal CAD/CAM software, Radan, was unveiled to manufacturers in the Baltic Countries at the region’s largest metalworking and mechanical engineering trade fair, Tech Industry 2017.

Radan, from Vero Software, was selected by the Italian Machinery Association to drive CNC machine tools on a booth they shared with Dreambird, an official distributor of Vero Software’s solutions for Russia, CIS and the Baltic countries.

Visitors to the booth – existing and potential customers – were particularly impressed with Radan 2018 R1’s speed and efficiency of part nesting, and how user-friendly it is. The IMA were running three machines on the booth: a Euromac MTX Plus flex 6 hybrid 1250/30-2500 punch press, Vimercati PHSY 3012 press brake, and a Costa Levigatrici MD6 CRCG 350.

Ada Lakevich, Dreambird’s marketing co-ordinator, says it demonstrated Radan’s vital role in the complete sheetmetal fabrication process, as visitors saw the parts created in Radan being punched, bent and finished in real-time.

“As Tech Industry 2017 is the most significant and largest trade fair dedicated to technologies, machinery, automation and manufacturing solutions in the region, it was the perfect trade fair to showcase Radan’s powerful capabilities.”

Radan 2018 R1 includes a number of items of new and enhanced functionality focusing specifically on the “engineering of parts” process, which, Ada Lakevich says highlights the fact that Radan is more than just a CAM system.

“Developers are working on separating Radan into two distinct aspects; traditionally creating NC code to drive CNC machines, and ‘engineering of parts.’ Radan isn’t just a CAM system any more. It plays an important role in ensuring sheet metal manufacturers are best placed to run with Industry 4.0.” An example of this is with Radmanager. The system now accepts feedback from the shop floor regarding the cutting progress. “This improved connection between the shop floor and logistics operations means the stock management and order processing functions can immediately update the stock control.”
