Radan’s Major Sheet Metal Role In Industry 4.0 Implementation

Radan, from Vero Software, is heavily involved in a two-day seminar, showing how software will play a vital role in the implementation of Industry 4.0 smart factories.

The ‘Sheet Metal 4.0’ event, which runs at the end of November, showcases technology facilitating the next generation of sheet metal production as part of a connected factory infrastructure.

Organised by Mazak, it takes place at their European Technology Centre in Worcester on November 29 and 30, and aims to clarify what Industry 4.0 actually means for the sheet metal business.

A number of companies and industry experts will be presenting at the event…including tooling specialists Mate Tooling Solutions, and used machine suppliers JTES, as well as C-ONE press brakes, Haeger fastener inserters, and Nitrocube nitrogen generators.

In addition to demonstrating their market-leading CAD/CAM software, Radan will also be explaining how they support specific sheet metal interactions between systems; in particular how the information produced by Mazak SMART BOX can be used in Radan’s logistics software. The SMART BOX allows critical production data to be securely analysed and acted upon much closer to the source, meaning manufacturers can achieve improved connectivity, greater productivity and reduced downtime.

And Radan’s 2018 R1 release will include a number of items of new and enhanced functionality which focus specifically on the “engineering of parts” processes. Product Manager Olaf Körner says: “Radan isn’t just a CAM system any more. It plays an important role in ensuring sheet metal manufacturers are best placed to run with Industry 4.0.”

Craig Letty, from Mate Tooling, says: “The companies running the seminar are seen as industry leaders in the advancement of new technology and sheet metal techniques. This will be an industry first in terms of seminars and 4.0 solutions that will get manufacturers thinking about their businesses and how the sheet metal 4.0 revolution is going to change their processes in a post-Brexit world.

Mazak say the event will also give delegates the opportunity to see a selection of their sheet metal cutting solutions in live-action demonstrations using machines including the Optiplex 3015 Fiber ll 6kW, and Optiplex Nexus 3015 Fiber 3kW lasers.

Ian White, General Sales Manager for Yamazaki Mazak, says: “They’ll be working alongside a variety of systems from our exhibiting partners, including bending, fastener insertion, laser marking, N2 generation, tooling technology, and Radan’s next generation CAD/CAM software.

“This will give delegates a tangible insight into the efficiency benefits that can be achieved via a fully integrated sheet metal processing cell in line with Industry 4.0 design principals.”

One of the keynote presentations at the event will be from KMF Group Managing Director Gareth Higgins MBE whose talk, ‘Attracting and Retaining Young Talent – The KMF Apprenticeship,’ highlights the skills required for the future, and the value of apprenticeships.
