Record attendance at Tebis Open House

Attendance at the 15th Tebis Open House exceeded expectations once again with roughly 750 visitors from Germany and abroad visiting the headquarters in Martinsried, Germany to learn about the latest Tebis software developments and advances on 20 and 21 June.

Over the course of the two days, Tebis offered four exhibit areas grouped by technologies. Users, business managers, Tebis experts and interested parties met for discussions in lounges specially set up for this purpose. Topics included the need for qualified personnel, Industry 4.0 and digital manufacturing management with ProLeiS.

The Open House focused especially on six main topics, structured by manufacturing technologies, design technologies and digital planning and control of manufacturing orders:

•    Massively expanded Tebis 5-axis technology in milling which will be launched with Version 4.0 Release 6 and promises significant time savings through maximized cutting performance.
•    Improved representation of the virtual workshop for simulation purposes enabling even more realistic possibilities for configuring virtual machines with extension parts and is also included in Release 6.
•    Simplified management of manufacturing knowledge in Tebis process libraries – the optimisation of which will also be launched with Release 6.
•    Parametric design – our independently developed hybrid technology enables the fast and easily modified manufacture of parts and manufacturing stages. This will be included in Tebis Version 4.1.
•    New Tebis Job Manager which forms the basis for further improved automation and will also be launched with Tebis Version 4.1.
•    Getting started in digital order planning and control (MES) with ProLeiS. The two new ProLeiS starter packages for machine data acquisition and manufacturing data management provide a simple and inexpensive introduction and are available now.

There were many guest speakers from Germany and other countries for the 2018 lineup of presentations. Tebis customers, speakers from universities and Tebis product managers delivered 24 well-attended presentations over the two days. Among others, Tebis customers such as Nissan Motor Co. (Japan), FAW Tooling Die Manufacturing Co. (People’s Republic of China), MECO GmbH (Germany) and CECOMP Spa (Italy) presented their experiences with Tebis on initial implementation and in practical use as well as the results they achieved. Prof. Thomas Seul, President of the German Association of Tool and Mold Manufacturers (VDWF), and Prof. Wolfgang Boos, Senior Engineer and Executive Manager of the machine tool laboratory of RWTH Aachen University, Germany, spoke about the future of die manufacturing.

This year, in addition to the Tebis software technologies, visitors also showed a high level of interest in our more than 20 partners who were represented with their own booths. They exchanged information about the latest developments with suppliers of machines, tools, clamping devices, scanners and standard blanks. Visitors also found it easy to make interesting contacts through our extensive customer and partner network. At the annual evening event, visitors were able to relax after a long day of exhibits and enjoy the outdoor venue – with perfect weather.
