With an already extensive line of threading products, Guhring has now extended its threading line with the introduction of its new micro-thread milling cutters and micro-fluteless taps for processing threads from M1.0 to M10.


As standard, the Guhring line of micro-fluteless taps  starts at M1 and gives the end user extremely precise and perfectly finished threads. The new line of right hand cutting micro-fluteless taps for ISO metric threads are available in diameters of M1, M1.2, M1.4, M1.6, M1.7 and M1.8. 


Complementing the micro-fluteless taps is the Guhring line of micro-thread milling cutters. The thread milling tools are offered for diameters of M1.6, M1.8, M2, M2.2, M2.5, M3, M3.5, M4, M5 and M6 to continue the exceptional thread quality and consistency that can be achieved by the taps. Manufactured from a high grade solid carbide, both the micro-fluteless taps and thread-mills deliver long tool life, consistent performance and outstanding threading performance and chip removal.


Guhring’s micro-thread milling cutters are available in a 3-tooth as well as a 1-tooth design. While the 3-tooth design firmly dictates the thread size and pitch, the 1-tooth design allows the universal production of threads with different nominal diameters in the specified diameter range with different pitches up to the specified Pmax value. Therefore, the 1-tooth thread milling cutter M2.5  to M3,  with a Pmax value of 0.5mm, is applicable for all types of thread combinations from M2.5 x 0.35 to theoretically M10 x 0.5.


All tools in the new micro-threading series are suitable for machining a diverse range of materials from free cutting steels, alloyed and un-alloyed case hardened and heat treatable steel, cast iron, graphite iron, plastics and super alloys to non-ferrous materials.
