MAPAL Introduces New Milling Line

MAPAL has now extended its range of milling cutters with a new line of face and shoulder milling cutters that are available with ISO indexable inserts. The new milling line incorporates a high-precision insert seat, innovative insert geometries and high performance coatings that will improve machining performance drastically.

The new products include a 75° face and 90° tangential shoulder milling series of cutters for the machining of steel and cast iron. These new cutter bodies have a close pitch that permits high feed machining. Complementing these tools are the 45° face and 88° tangential shoulder milling cutters for the machining of steel, stainless steel and cast iron. Capable of cutting at large depths of cut, they are both available with the same construction and insert pocket design that allows MAPAL's four cutting edge LTHU tangential indexable insert to be utilised. The LTHU tangential indexable inserts can be used on alternate sides, giving the end user a cost effective 8-edged insert.

Tangential technology for optimum tool lives

The indexable inserts are tangentially embedded in the insert seat, so machining forces are absorbed over the whole cross-section of the cutting edge. Only very small loads are transmitted to the tool body, resulting in an improved quality of the machining results. The reduced cutting forces due to the positive cutting edge geometries also lower the drive power required from the machine, and as a result increase the energy efficiency.
