New Seco end mills boost material removal rates across a wide range of materials.

Seco has recently introduced two new solid-carbide end mills that significantly boost metal removal rates and provide customers with improved tool life.

The first of these new products - Jabro®-HFM JHF181 - is a range of cutters ideal for high-feed milling of hardened steels and nickel-based alloys, whilst the second product - Jabro®-Solid2 JS564 and JS565 - are high-performance cutters developed specifically for roughing operations across a wide range of materials including steels, stainless steels and titanium alloys.

Jabro-HFM JHF181

A latest addition to Seco's high feed milling range of cutting tools, the new Jabro-HFM JHF181 offers the same high-productivity improvements as other Seco high-feed tooling solutions, and can increase metal removal rates by up to 30% more than when other, more traditional solid-carbide end mills are used.

JHF181 cutting tools are particularly effective at machining complex parts that require long tool overhangs and where a mix of multiple axial and radial machining operations are employed.

The cutters feature Seco’s new HXT coating which, when in use, adds a hardened layer to the cutting tool edges which in turn delivers thermal protection and high-wear resistance.

The JHF181 range is available with 2-, 4- or 5-flute options with cutting diameters ranging from 2 mm to 16 mm and length options ranging from 2xD to 7xD. The end mills also have through-tool coolant capability for diameters between 6 mm and 12mm.

Jabro-Solid2 JS564 and JS565

Designed for advanced roughing operations, the new Jabro-Solid2 JS564 and JS565 cutters provide 20% longer tool life than their predecessors due to a number of innovative features that include: stable tapered cores and polished NXT coatings.

JS564 and JS565 provide high radial engagement without the need to compromise the use of high feeds and speeds. Furthermore, positive frontal teeth geometries on both cutter ranges make them ideal for axial and helical interpolation operations.

New, optimised chip splitter options featured in the tools create small chips when using long cutting lengths, ensuring effective and efficient chip evacuation (especially useful when machining deep pockets) - and reduce operational issues, such as tool breakage and workpiece scrap, from occurring.

JS564 and JS565 are available in 4- and 5-flute designs in a broad range of cutting diameters and lengths. JS565 is also available without chip splitters.

For both JS564 and JS565, cylindrical shank diameters are available from 3 mm to 20 mm, and Weldon shank diameters are available from 6 mm to 20 mm.
