Quickgrind Will Show New Tooling Innovations On Its Return To MACH

Quickgrind is making a much-anticipated return to MACH with a stand located in the GTMA Zone, Stand H7 to 101. The Tewkesbury cutting tool manufacturer will be giving a MACH debut to a complete range of new milling innovations that will include the ground-breaking new Mirage, QPlus, Delta and the Spectre.

More than a cutting tool manufacturer, Quickgrind will also be demonstrating its QuickEdge re-grinding service, the QuickLab process analysis and improvement service, the QuickVend tool management solutions and QuickCAM, the CAM assessment service that optimises the complete machining process.

With cutting tools being the core element of the globally recognised business, the Birmingham NEC in April will be the platform for the UK exhibition premiere for a host of new innovations. With rapid material removal being a core concept for Quickgrind, the new Spectre solid-carbide end mills will attract attention at MACH.

By reducing the depth of cut and increasing feed rates by up to six times that of conventional end mills, manufacturers can slash machining times with greatly improved productivity and material removal rates. Quickgrind’s high-feed Spectre range is ideal for rough-machining operations such as slotting, pocket milling and contour machining. Indeed, the end mills are perfect for pocketing with high length-over-diameter ratios and intricate features.

Appearing alongside the Spectre will be the new Mirage Series of solid carbide end mills. Capable of outperforming competitor products on stainless steel, super alloys and a selection of non-ferrous, high temperature alloys and cast iron, the new Quickgrind Mirage Series has an ingenious geometry that allows end users to apply the Mirage to roughing, finishing, slotting and profiling as well as trochiodal milling and strategic HSM processes. This extensive capability reduces tool inventory and costs.

The four flute end mills are available with a 3, 4, 5 and 6mm diameter, each consisting of a 6mm diameter H6 ground shank for enhanced strength, rigidity and performance. The 8, 10, 12, 16 and 20mm diameter variants are available with flute lengths from 18 to 38mm with an overall length from 64 to 104mm depending upon chosen diameter.

Specifically aimed at the small machine shop and subcontract environment will be the ingenious Qplus range of end mills. The new Qplus has been developed with the aim of creating the industry’s most universal tooling series yet. The four flute end mill generates remarkable performance levels on steel and cast iron whilst the hard wearing MX coating makes the Qplus ideal for high temperature alloys, hardened steels and non-ferrous materials.

Not only can the solid carbide Qplus series be applied to a diverse spectrum of materials, it can conduct anything from rough to finish machining, slotting, profiling, trochiodal milling and much more. The benefit of this seemingly endless diversity is that machine shops can use a single tool for a multitude of applications and materials. For the client, this reduces tooling costs and inventory requirements whilst eliminating the need for continuous tool changeovers. By reducing tool changeovers and the associated non-cutting times, end users can improve their cycle times significantly.

In contrast, Quickgrind will also demonstrate the new Delta Series of three flute end mills. This unique range exhibits extended reach, a unique geometry and Quickgrind’s Xred coating that all culminate to deliver a high-performance end mill suitable for a variety of materials. The extended reach of the new solid carbide Delta end mill gives it versatility beyond competitor products whilst its submicron-grain carbide substrate generates unrelenting rigidity.

As well as having the most innovative solid carbide milling tools at MACH 2018, Quickgrind will have experts at the show to discuss process improvements, vending and inventory management and even training and support packages for educational establishments.
