Seco increases copy milling provision

Seco Tools has recently introduced two new products to a) its Combimaster™ range of milling tools and b) its Round 12 button insert line. The introductions have further increased the company’s scope, scale and appeal of its copy milling products.

 

Seco’s industry-leading Combimaster milling cutter system is available with a range of shank types, lengths and interchangeable cutter heads to provide manufacturers with optimised flexibility over a wide range of applications.

 

The performance and versatility of Combimaster, in the 40 - 42mm diameter range (50mm diameter in ball nose cutters) have been increased with the advent of Seco’s new M20 connection.

 

The M20 thread ensures the strongest connection possible between the tool shank and the cutter body. In most instances, the Combimaster M20 allows users to increase both metal removal rates and depths of cut by as much as 15 % to improve overall machining performance. Seco has adapted the M20 connection to more than 30 new holder styles and over 50 types of milling cutters.

 

Round 12 Button Inserts

Seco has enhanced its range of Round 12 button inserts by adding new positive indexing inserts to the product line.

 

The inserts enable fast and accurate positioning, and the anti-rotation indexing system provides absolute insert security, especially during demanding material removal applications. Round 12 inserts have indexing notches that correspond with cutter body alignment marks, both of which ensure perfect insert positioning into the cutter body pocket seats and make the system extremely easy to use.

 

For the new system, Seco has incorporated advanced geometries with the Round 12 inserts and designed all the diameters of the cutting bodies with new differential pitches to reduce vibration and chatter.
