MS2050 milling grade increases productivity when machining titanium alloys

Designed and manufactured for challenging conditions, Seco’s latest MS2050 milling insert grade incorporates a new coating technique and substrate that delivers improved process reliability and the ability to use higher cutting data when machining titanium alloy materials in stable conditions.

MS2050 has the combination of a new PVD coating (NbN – niobium nitride) which has been designed to avoid chemical reactions and a substrate giving increased toughness. This combination of  factors increases the insert’s wear resistance and the ability to withstand the mechanical loads created in the cutting zone.

The result is high-productivity, reduced cycle times, improved tool life – all of which help reduce the cost-per-part.

MS2050 will appeal to aerospace component manufacturers, and indeed any manufacturer machining titanium alloys. MS2050 is available in arrange of positive geometries for square shoulder milling, copy milling and high-feed milling operations.
