New Seco MS2050 milling grades optimised for machining titanium

Added to MTDCNC by Seco Tools (UK) Ltd on 19 November 2015

Seco Tools has increased the versatility of its best-selling MS2050 milling grade with new options designed for manufacturers machining parts from titanium and high-chromium content steels. The latest additions encompass a wide scope of insert sizes, radii and geometries along with a special coating technology for machining titanium.

The grades’ new silver-coloured PVD coating has improved heat-resistant capabilities and virtually eliminates the occurrence of the built-up edge when cutting ‘sticky’ materials such as titanium.

Because the creation of the built-up edge is eliminated, inserts have approximately 50% longer life - helping manufacturers reduce their tool costs/expenditure.

MS 2050 grades are suitable for use with Seco’s Turbo 10, Helical T4-08 and Highfeed cutting tools, and are available in a  range of different radii (from 0.4 mm to 6.3 mm). They are also available with positive geometries enabling them to be used in shoulder, face, copy and high-feed milling operations.
