Tiger Techs for medium/deep cut operations and RP5 for roughing steels

Tiger Techs for medium/deep cut operations and RP5 for roughing steels

Added to MTDCNC by MTDCNC on 05 July 2012

Tooling giant Walter GB of Bromsgrove has extended its range of Tiger.tec Silver indexable s for ISO P turning applications with the addition of MP5 geometries for medium/deep cut operations and RP5 for roughing steels.

The new s complement the Tiger.tec Silver s for finishing (FP5) and for long-chipping materials (MP3), and will generate similar improvements in average tool life of up to 75 per cent - and, in some cases, 600 per cent! - compared with traditional products.

These benefits apply even on demanding materials such as heat treatable steels having a tensile strength of over 1000 N/mm² and on carbon steels that cause heavy crater wear. This is due to the optimised microstructure of the Tiger.tec Silver coating, and the WPP10S, WPP20S and WPP30S cutting material grades.

With tough cutting edges, an open chip breaker groove behind the cutting edge and reinforced chip breaker blades, MP5 is ideal for smooth and interrupted cuts up to 7 mm deep.

Roughing with RP5 can now be performed at 12 mm depths of cut with lower power requirements thanks to a tough positive chamfer on the cutting edge the chamfer widens in the central area of the main cutting edge and so creates maximum cutting edge stability.
