Delcam video from ‘Future of Machining’ event at Mazak now online
Delcam has added a video to the Delcam.TV website filmed during two free workshops on the Future of Machining held at Mazak’s European Technology Centre in Worcester during June. To see the video, please go to http://www.delcam.tv/openday-mazak
The day included demonstrations of the major developments in the 2016 releases of Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM software for high-speed and five-axis machining and the FeatureCAM feature-based programming system. The software demonstrations were followed by live machining demonstrations, with PowerMILL five-axis machining shown on a Mazak Integrex 400 and feature-based machining with FeatureCAM on a Mazak Vertical Center Smart 430A.
The PowerMILL demonstration focused on the new Advanced Simulation & Verification module that can undertake complete verification of a project for machine-tool issues such as collisions, rather than having to undertake verification of each individual toolpath in turn. Comprehensive verification is performed, including ensuring that the machine tool is capable of running the proposed strategy, as well as checking for both machine-tool collisions and tooling collisions, during cutting moves and for all leads and links, including machine-tool movements as tool changes are executed.
For FeatureCAM, the main focus was on speed, highlighting both the speed with which programming can be completed with the software and the shorter machining times that are possible with the Vortex high-efficiency area-clearance strategy.
