Six new Hyundai Wia machines to be launched at EMO

Added to MTDCNC by TW Ward CNC Machinery Ltd on 24 July 2013

No less than six new machines will be launched by Hyundai-Wia as part of an impressive 13-machine display that will demonstrate the comprehensiveness – and competitiveness – of the South Korean manufacturer’s wide portfolio of production solutions, says exclusive UK distributor T W Ward CNC Machinery (Ward CNC).

The large display of turning and vertical and horizontal machining centres (VMCs) will include five all-new turning centres/vertical CNC lathes plus the just-announced Hi-Mold 6500, the latest large-capacity addition to the company’s VMC range. The new turning machines will include the:

LV1400 – of ram-type configuration for heavy-duty cutting, this 50/40 kW (2,000 revs/min) vertical CNC lathe has a maximum cutting diameter of 1,400 mm, a swing of 1,450 mm and a maximum turning length of 800 mm; and

LV450RM – rated at 18.5/22 kW (main motor) and 5.5 kW (live tool), the machine has a swing over the bed of 620 mm, and a 465 mm turning diameter and length capacity.

Details of the new L160LMA, LF2600M/2SP and L800LMA CNC turning centres – as well as the 200,000 revs/min Hi-Mold 6500 - are being kept under wraps until the show opens.

Also on show will be the L230LMSA, L250SY and LS2100SY turning centres.

The L230LMSA features live tooling and 0.001deg indexing sub-spindle, 20/14.7 kW (4,000 revs/min) main motor, a swing over the bed of 550 mm and a maximum turning length of 521 mm.

Then there’s the 76 mm bar capacity L250SY multi-tasking turning centre with 29.5/24.8 kW (3,500 revs/min) main motor, a swing over the bed of 620 mm and a maximum tuning length of 620 mm.

The LS2100SY multi-tasking turning centre features VDI 140 turret for synchronised main and sub-spindle (C axis with 0.001deg indexing) applications, enabling complex parts to be produced in a single set-up. This 65 mm bar capacity machine has a 20/14.6 kW (4,500 revs/min) main motor, a swing over the bed of 630 mm and a maximum tuning length of 455 mm.

Hyundai-Wia’s comprehensive vertical machining centre display will include the 44.3/33.5 kW, 24,000 revs/min Hi-Mold 560 VMC which, with 24-tool automatic toolchanger, has a table of 1,250 mm by 600 mm plus X, Y and Z axes travels of 1,000 mm by 560 mm by 450 mm.

Also on show, the F600D VMC features X, Y and Z travels of 800 mm by 600 mm by 600 mm to complement its 900 mm by 650 mm table and 20/15 kW spindle motor that produces 8,000 revs/min plus a 24-tool automatic toolchanger.

Representing Hyundai-Wia’s horizontal machining centre range, the 33.5/29.5 kW HS5000 has a 500 mm by 500 mm table that is complemented by X, Y and Z axes travels of 620 mm by 560 mm by 650 mm, respectively, plus an 80-tool automatic toolchanger. It can accommodate workpiece loads up to 500 kgs.

The twin-table, high-speed i-Cut 380T CNC tapping centre completes the display.
