Manufacturing UK event hosted by GTMA at Mazak

Added to MTDCNC by Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd on 25 March 2013

From 8.30 am until 3.30pm on Thursday, 9th May 2013 the GTMA will host its ‘Manufacturing UK’ event. It will take place at perhaps the most suitable location in the whole country, Yamazaki Mazak’s Worcester plant, anyone wishing to attend should register at www.manufacturinguk.net

Pointing to the recent investment news from Jaguar Land Rover, creating an additional 700 jobs at its new engine plant, the GTMA highlights the engineering successes already being enjoyed by UK-based manufacturing companies. These businesses have placed significant orders for tooling, precision machining and mould and die support with British precision engineering companies, and are reaping multifaceted rewards.

Over 35 GTMA member companies will be exhibiting at the event, including tool makers, rapid prototype and precision machining companies, as well as the all important technical supporting services of leading metrology, software and cutting tool/workholding suppliers.

Speaking about the event, the GTMA’s Chief Executive, Julia Moore, says: 'This one of the most comprehensive and up-to-date machine tool manufacturing plants in Europe, producing over 1,000 machine tools each year. Over 85 per cent of the Mazak plant’s production is exported into Europe, so the event could not be held at a better location. It is not just an assembly plant but a complete state-of-the-art machine tool manufacturing facility operating just-in-time and flexible output techniques necessary in today’s competitive global marketplace. '

Guest speakers confirmed for the event include John Rooney, Operations Director, Gardner Aerospace, and Michael Mychajluk, Jaguar Land Rover Purchasing Risk Manager and Automotive Council UK Supply Chain Group Member. Having worked in the automotive industry for 15 years he currently leads the development of sustainable supply chain policy and procedures for the JLR purchasing function. In addition, Michael Mychajluk has taken leadership of the Automotive Council Supply Chain Access to Finance work stream. He will provide a synopsis on JLR’s recent success fuelled by exports to fast growth markets as well as providing an insight to the work of the Automotive Council.

The Manufacturing UK event will be held in Mazak’s new European Technical Centre, situated on the same Worcester site as its production facilities. With the latest innovations in high performance machining technology on display together under one roof, the company is able to help European and UK manufacturers achieve significant productivity and profitability increases. Guided tours of the machine tool maker’s production and assembly facilities will also be arranged on the day, with further opportunities to see demonstrations of all of the company’s machine tools running in the Technical Centre. Lunch and light refreshments will also be included.
