Seco inspires VIP guests at official opening of its new Technical Centre

Seco Tools (UK) Ltd, a leading supplier of complete machining solutions to the metal-cutting industry, welcomed over 50 VIP guests to the official opening of its new, state-of-the-art Technical Centre in Alcester.

The event, which took place on 21st March, was aimed at decision makers and was attended by a number of Seco’s key customers and technical partners as well as local business and community leaders and dignitaries that included the Mayor of Alcester, Councillor Lennox Cumberpatch.

Although the event was aimed at a UK audience it had more than an international flavour with representatives from Seco Group (Sweden) flying in specially to commemorate the opening of the new £6 million facility, and the official ribbon-cutting ceremony being performed by Nicola Clase, Swedish Ambassador to the UK.

The theme chosen by Seco for the event was 'Going for Growth...Together' and key note presentations from Seco’s Managing Director, Richard Jelfs and international business commentator, Lord Digby Jones, whilst being informative, entertaining and candid, focused on the power of positive, mutually-beneficial partnerships in business.

Both Mr Jelfs’ and Lord Jones’ presentations demonstrated how UK companies operating in today’s global manufacturing environments can achieve profitable and sustainable growth through strong leadership; through collaboration based on integrity, respect and trust; by engaging fully with employees and creating dynamic working environments where they can develop and contribute more; and through committing to continuous improvement and innovation.

Said Richard Jelfs:

'This was a fantastic event that I’m sure left visitors feeling enthused and inspired.

'The objective that was foremost in our minds when planning the event was to demonstrate that by working together...by putting enthusiasm and energy back into manufacturing...and by constantly innovating and challenging established thinking and processes...we can, both individually and collectively, achieve great things and inspire future generations.

'I think, judging by the feedback received, we got the message, content and delivery spot on.'

In addition to the formal presentations VIP guests were taken on a tour of the Technical Centre and were able to see first-hand Seco’s new production facilities where the company designs, develops and manufacturers (in partnership with customers) new and bespoke machining processes and metal-cutting solutions. Visitors also saw the new spacious, modern and open-plan working environments and meeting spaces purposely designed to encourage teamwork and collaboration, and were shown the impressive staff restaurant/recreation area called the Oasis and fully-equipped gym.
