Star Enjoy Open House Success

Star Micronics recently held their annual Open House over three days in October and enjoyed one of their best attendances ever, with machine sales of sliding head lathes exceeding initial predictions. Held at their UK headquarters in Melbourne, Derbyshire, Star welcomed attendees to view their premises, mingle with staff and see their machines in action.

The event saw the unveiling of the much anticipated SR20-R IV, the latest machine in the popular SR series. This innovative lathe, featuring an advanced eight-axis unit with fully programmable B-axis control, was displayed and demonstrated to attendees along with a selection of Star’s other heavy hitters. The 20mm machine raised most interest from users in the sub-contract market, who require the need for flexibility of the technology coping with a varied work mix at a high production rate. Karl Iacobucci of DKW Engineering commented on the range of Stars:

“I found all of the machines really impressive on the day, particularly the SR-20R IV. I thought the machine showed great progression from the previous model, and it’s a big step forward in terms of what you can achieve on a one hit machine.”

Directors from a number of financial companies, who have extensive experience in the industry, advised visitors on finance issues, including tips on how easy it is to create the most economical financial investment for plant and machinery, and take full advantage of the available Tax breaks.
2012 has been a bumper year for Star, as Managing Director Bob Hunt explains:

“This year’s Open House was a resounding success and a good representation of how things have gone for us in the last twelve months. In fact, 35% of the installations we’ve carried out this year has come from new clients, and we saw many new faces at the Open House, which gives me great pleasure that UK manufacturing and engineering is maintaining its position for the UK economy. A lot of our partner companies were represented too, so overall it was a privilege for us to play host to such a great team of people.”

Rob Bennett of Scott Bennett Limited attended the event and said,” I had a fantastic day at the Open House, and it was great to learn what’s new in the industry. I was privileged to be invited to the event.”
