Tornos Think Event Inspired Success

Tornos Think Event Inspired Success

Added to MTDCNC by Tornos Technologies UK Ltd on 05 November 2012

When Matsuura, Tornos, Fanuc Robotics and Mitutoyo teamed up to create a joint integrated technology event, the companies couldn't have envisaged the successful impact of the event. Co-located at the Matsuura & Tornos technology centres in Leicestershire, the recent event noted the sale of a number of high value machine tools.

Primarily aimed at offering end users the opportunity to view profitable integrated  manufacturing solutions whereby machine tools were integrated with robotic and metrology concepts, event visitors found the technology bonanza to be educational and informative. As Tornos UK's, Mr John Stretton comments: "The feedback from the visitors from over 100 different companies was that the event was very educational and it showed end users something different from alternate Open House events. With visitors feeling the event was well worth the visit, we noted that attendees spent considerably more time at the event than expected."

From a Tornos UK perspective, a number of turning centres were sold to end users. As Mr Stretton confirms: "The majority of the business Tornos won at the event was high value, project led business. This fitted with the theme of the event that was based around integrated processes to maximise profitability, eliminate non productive downtime and reduce manufacturing costs. The time visitors spent at our facility highlighted the Tornos technology available as well as the high level of relevant integration with the technology partners. By offering peripheral products and services such as tooling, workholding, CAD/CAM software, probing, swarf management, robotics, metrology, cutting fluids and much more, visitors could see endless productivity possibilities at one event."

Tornos demonstrated its technological expertise with the return of the MultiSwiss multi-spindle turning centre that won a prestigious MWP award at MACH 2012 on its first UK visit. Whilst visitors had never seen anything like the MultiSwiss, keen attention was also paid to the EvoDeco 16 turning centre that received its first UK outing. However, the one machine that also made heads turn was the Tornos CU2007 machining centre. Historically acknowledged as the world leader in technologically advanced Swiss precision turning, Tornos now lends these attributes to machining centres with its CU2007. Available as a 3 to 5-axis machine with uncompromising accuracy, rigidity and performance levels, the new CU2007 generated significant interest from visitors.
