High performance 5-axis VMC for less than a 100k from Leadwell
Obtaining a high performance 5-axis machining centre for less than a £100k outlay used to be difficult to come by – until Lead Precision Machine Tools introduced its new Leadwell V20iT. Developed to offer performance, quality and capability, the new V20iT is an outstanding new machine with all these attributes.
The new machine incorporates a rotary table within the work envelope that unlike many machines in the marketplace, the table can turn to offer negative angles. Despite its rotary table configuration, this innovative machining centre is not a 3-axis machine with bolt-on rotary table. The C-axis on the rotary table is accurate to 0.01mm to ensure a high level of precision for the end user.
The control unit on the V20iT is a Fanuc 0i-MD that now has the most recent update, a G68.2 feature that is essentially a datum shift that allows the operator to now move the zero point to anywhere within the work envelope. In addition, Lead Precision can also offer a control unit that will permit simultaneous 5-axis machining for improved productivity and chip-to-chip times.
For high production environments, the V20iT has a flood coolant facility that efficiently removes swarf and waste from the work envelope and pushes it into the chip conveyor at the base of the machine. When manufacturing jobs at high productivity levels, the rigidity and precision is guaranteed through its rigid boxway construction.
