Chiron at MACH 2014

Chiron at MACH 2014

Added to MTDCNC by ETG on 03 March 2014

On Stand 5310 the Engineering Technology Group will demonstrate the impressive production capabilities of Chiron’s twin-spindle five-axis vertical machining centres.

Combining two high performance spindles in one machining centre means the machine can make two identical parts at once, giving twice the output in a much smaller footprint than two machines would require.

Both spindles provide full simultaneous five-axis capability thanks to Chiron’s twin pot trunnion design with a common A-axis swivel table and twin rotary C-axes.

The machine on show on the ETG stand is the high speed DZ 08 FX Magnum, which makes its UK debut at MACH.

The machine is extremely fast, with chip-to-chip times of 1.9 seconds and spindle speeds up to 40,000 rpm.

X, Y and Z axis travels are 450, 270 and 310mm, with feed rates of 75m/min and accelerations of 1.0, 1.5 and 2g respectively.

The ‘Magnum’ version of the DZ 08 FX on show at MACH provides an extra-large work area with plenty of room for ancillary devices and automation systems.

A final advantage of the twin spindle machine is that energy consumption is 40% less than two single spindle machines offering the lowest cost per part.
