New Doosan Lynx sub-spindle lathes launched by Mills CNC

New Doosan Lynx sub-spindle lathes launched by Mills CNC

Added to MTDCNC by Mills CNC Ltd on 01 July 2012

Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of Doosan machine tools in the UK and Ireland, has announced that its Lynx 220 range of small, compact lathes has been expanded and improved with the introduction of a number of new high-productivity and ultra-versatile sub-spindle machines.

These new Lynx machines, first introduced by Doosan at EMO 2011, will be available in the UK and Ireland following their UK launch at MACH 2012 in April.

The new machines are aimed at manufacturers, across the spectrum, looking for small, reliable and highly-efficient lathes capable of machining complex parts in one or fewer set ups.

Says Andrew Jack, Mills&rsquo Technical Director:

&lsquoManufacturers are always on the lookout for machines that can do more...that can save time... that can deliver improved part quality, and that can help them drive down costs.

&lsquoThe new Lynx 220 sub-spindle lathes have been designed with such critical success factors in mind, and that&rsquos why we&rsquore confident they will prove popular with UK and Irish manufacturers&rsquo.

The new Lynx machines

There are 4 new Lynx 220 lathes in the series &ndash Lynx 220 LSA Lynx 220 LMSA Lynx 220 LSC and the Lynx 220 LMSC.

All are high-performance, high-specification machines equipped with 5.5-kw, 6,000-rpm sub-spindles, 12- station turrets (24-position indexing capability), and that provide full C-axis capability on both main and sub-spindles (360 degrees in 0.001 increments).

Two of the new models - Lynx 220 LMSA (51-mm bar diameter) and Lynx 220 LMSC (65-mm bar diameter) machines have driven tools (3.7kW 6,000-rpm) and, as such, provide manufacturers with additional mill, drill and tapping capability

Depending on model type - the machine&rsquos main spindle varies with Lynx 220 LSA/LMSA machines having a 15kW 6,000-rpm main spindle and Lynx 220 LSC/LMSC lathes being equipped with a 15kw 4500-rpm main spindle.

All machines are equipped as standard with an automatic tool setter, parts catcher, pneumatic parts ejector with coolant feed (on the sub-spindle), and parts conveyor.

Finally, the machine includes 10.4&rdquo colour screen and Fanuc Manual Guide i operator programming system.

Concludes Andrew Jack:

&lsquoLynx lathes are popular and are among the UK&rsquos best-selling range of small, compact lathes.

&lsquoThe introduction of the new sub-spindle lathe range considerably strengthens our turning portfolio, and will cement the Lynx&rsquos position as the UK&rsquos number one range of high-productivity, high flexibility, cost-competitive compact lathes.&rsquo
