Chorley, Lancashire based Design & Technical Services Ltd (DTS) is the sole agent for Correa Anayak machine tools in the UK and Southern Ireland. It offers a full range of milling and turning machines from three- to five-axis.  Additionally, DTS is also proud to be the UK agent for the Johnford brand of machines and are able to source many other leading branded products too, including Honor Seiki.

DTS also service a full range of machines in addition to its own and further provides a relocation service for any machine tool.DTS was founded in 2005 by Gary Sanderson and Andrew Bailey and 8 years later, after relocating to larger premises in the prestigious Matrix Park site in Chorley, the company has now grown significantly whilst consolidating its position in the market.

Most recently DTS has secured an order from a prestigious UK business for a VTL manufactured by Taiwanese based HONOR SEIKI CO., LTD.  For those unfamiliar with the Honor Seiki brand, this is a well regarded Taiwanese company, founded in 1987 and now part of the Tongtai group, with a strong R&D and production team that specialises in manufacturing CNC vertical Lathes & single purpose CNC lathes.

The Honor Seiki VTL order signed in February 2013 cements a fantastic first financial quarter 2013 for DTS.  The machine in question is a large vertical lathe with a significant machining capacity offering a turning diameter of 4,000mm.  It also has a Max cutting height of 2,000mm, an X-axis of 4,400mm travel, a Z-axis of 1,500mm and a Y-axis of 4,000mm.  It is equipped with a 60KW spindle motor, live spindle tooling for milling as well as turning and a Fanuc 31i control.  And when you add together all those features, this makes this 150 tonne beast of a machine tool, something a bit special.

Applications of this nature are not ‘run-of-the-mill’ and this type of machine tool is likely to only suit businesses machining large castings, casing and large rings.  However if you are in this market you will know only too well that having the right machine with the right capacity, power and flexibility is key to success.  The Honor Seiki range of VTLs is extensive but all models share the joint attributes of being easy to load, easy to set and versatile enough to not only turn, but to mill and bore as well.
