Dugard Bridges the gap from 3+2 to 5-axis with new HSM600

Added to MTDCNC by Dugard on 03 July 2015

Now available from Dugard is the new HSM600 5-axis vertical machining centre with an innovative new configuration concept. When considering a 5-axis machining centre, many engineers may opt for a 3-axis machine that can be configured to a 3+2 and then easily transferred back to a 3-axis machine as and when required.

The latest HSM600 from Dugard bridges that gap and gives manufacturers a simple choice. This is because the new HSM600 has an integrated C-axis on the table that gives a large working envelope and plenty of space for clamping components. The C-axis table rotates 360 degrees whilst the head of the machine is the B-axis that can impressively tilt to negative angles. The machine is available with the HSM600 C variant, which is a rotating table on the bed and swivelling head. Alternately, customers can opt for the HSM600 A model that has a 4th-axis unit bolted onto the table to provide a different configuration.

The machines are available with a Heidenhain or Siemens control unit that will both permit full simultaneous 5-axis machining. Furthermore, the new HSM600 can hold an impressive 800kg weight on the table and its travel is a particularly large with 610mm in the Y-axis and 1m in the X-axis. The spindle has a number of options that include a 12,000rpm BT40 or the 14,000rpm version that has a powerful 22kw spindle motor. Other options that are available include through spindle coolant and a tool magazine with 32 or 40 positions. This list of options make the Dugard HSM600 a great choice for simple 3-axis machining of large parts through to full simultaneous 5-axis cutting.
