T W Ward CNC Machinery (Ward CNC), the exclusive UK distributor for Hankook, says two machines will be representing the Korean machine tool builder at EMO: the VTC-250E vertical boring and turning machine; and the Hanturn BB-550 flat bed Oil Country CNC lathe.

Featuring C axis indexing in 0.001deg increments and ram- and turret-type driven tools, the VTC-250E VTL has table/chuck, swing and turning diameters of 2,500 mm, 3,000 mm and 3,000 mm, respectively, plus a maximum turning height of 2,000 mm and a vertical crossrail travel of 1,000 mm.

Combined with a table that can accommodate workpieces weighing 15,000 kgs, plus a 2,500 mm four-jaw manual chuck, the machine is suitable for a wide range of components across a variety of industries, as recent sales by Ward CNC testify.

With the automatic toolchanger accommodating 12 turning and 12 milling tools, the VTC-250E is powered by a main spindle motor of 60/75 kW and a driven tools motor of 22/26 kW. It is controlled by Fanuc 32i-A CNC with Manual-Guide-i functionality, and has Fanuc digital AC spindle and servo drives and motors.

Alongside the VTL will be the Hanturn BB-550 two-axis CNC lathe, a machine that is consistently proving very popular for oil and gas applications, for example. This has a standard main chuck of 1,000 mm diameter, a 550 mm bar capacity and a swing over the bed and carriage of 1,100 mm and 600 mm, respectively.

With a maximum of 1,000 mm in both turning diameter and length, the six-tool station BB-550 also features a 37/45 kW main motor. Rapid traverse rates X and Z are 4 and 6 m/min, respectively, and corresponding axes travels are 670 and 1,100 mm.
