Mazak to offer Siemens control option

Added to MTDCNC by Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd on 20 November 2013

Yamazaki Mazak is now offering Siemens Sinumerik control as an alternative CNC option for machine tool users who are established Siemens control users.

Siemens SINUMERIK 840D sl is being made available across a number of Mazak machines in the VARIAXIS, VTC 800 series and eH multi-tasking machine ranges.

The VTC 800/30SDR is a simultaneous 5-axis vertical travelling column machining centre designed and built at Mazak’s European manufacturing plant in the UK, specifically for European customers.
The new SDR variant delivers the ideal solution for the efficient machining of large critical components requiring the highest levels of accuracy and exceptional productivity due to enhanced swarf management, enabling extended continuous cutting without stoppage.

The INTEGREX e-500H II, also equipped with SINUMERIK 840D sl control, is a complete fusion of machining centre and turning centre, which makes it possible to meet a wide range of production requirements in one, due to its Y-axis stroke from 410mm to 650mm and the maximum machining length of 6,101mm.

Mazak’s VARIAXIS i-500 multi-tasking machine also offers simultaneous 5-axis machining capability and SINUMERIK 840D sl.

Alan Mucklow, Group Product Manager Europe at Yamazaki Mazak, comments: 'We understand that some potential customers are long established users of Siemens controls and want to continue with a single programming solution. It is important that those customers are able to realise the benefits of Mazak machines without having to incorporate a new programming solution into their operations.'

He continues:  'The availability of SINUMERIK control on Mazak machines now enables us to offer these customers the opportunity to have the benefit of Mazak technology and quality. We are confident that the Siemens option will appeal to customers who have previously been interested in accessing the Mazak range of machine tools, but were constrained by being established Siemens SINUMERIK users.'
