AS200 from ETG targeting the subcontract market..

Added to MTDCNC by Engineering Technology Group on 24 March 2015

The new Nakamura AS200 turning centre has now been introduced to the market by the Engineering Technology Group (ETG) to offer a 65mm diameter bar capacity with the option of moving up to 71mm. This makes the new machine ideal for the production of small to medium sized components that demand the utmost in precision, flexibility and highly productive machining of simple to complex parts.

Targeted at the subcontract turned parts manufacturer, The AS200 has a Y-axis with +/-41mm and a 12 station tool turret with half point indexing, so up to 24 tools can be accommodated. In addition, ETG can provide the machine with an optional 15 station turret to support the possibility of 15 driven tools on the machine. As many machine shops are conscious of floor area, Nakamura has packed a host of technologies into a very compact footprint of 1.6 by 1.65m

Within this area is a powerful machine with a 4500rpm spindle and driven tools that can run up to 6000rpm for highly productive milling and drilling operations that are driven by a 5.5kW motor. This delivers remarkable levels of torque for maximum material removal rates.

Additional features on the new AS200 include a tailstock with a programmable quill and a tool setting arm as standard for in-cycle monitoring of cutting tools. This enhances productivity by giving the operator confidence in the cutting tools and the process reliability without having to stop the machine mid-cycle. This coincides perfectly with the Fanuc control that has been developed with Nakamura, so it has the new Nakamura 'nurse' feature. This provides tool life and tool load monitoring as standard to give complete process confidence to the operator.
