Exceptional productivity with Nakamura AS-200

Added to MTDCNC by ETG on 30 June 2014

Following its European launch at the EMO 2013 exhibition the AS-200 single turret milling and turning centre has proved a highly popular addition to the extensive Nakamura-Tome range.

A machining centre specifically developed with the dual capability of maximum productivity in diversified small lot batches or high volume single component manufacture, the AS-200 offers three-in-one advanced manufacturing with a powerful 6000 rev/min, 5.5kW dedicated milling tool drive, high speed, high accuracy C-axis and an 82mm stroke Y axis. The main spindle features a 15kW motor offering a maximum speed of 4500r/min.

These features make the AS-200 an ideal ‘done-in-one’ production unit, capable of finish machining components from bar stock to completion without secondary operations such as deburring, milling and drilling as well as eliminating fixture re-positioning.

The machine is supplied as standard with a 65mm capacity bar feeder and parts catcher.  Two turret options are available – the 12/24 station with 12 driven tool capacity or the 15-station version, all with driven tools.

To enhance its many productivity features the AS200 is equipped as standard with a Nakamura-Fanuc CNC control pre-loaded with the NT Work Navigator programme with co-ordinate recognition.  This is a cost cutting feature in multitasking machines and eliminates the need for positioning fixtures and special clamping devices.

Also standard is the Airbag overload detection (to minimise machine damage in a collision due to error) and the NT Nurse software to assist operation, programming and production processes. Standard with NT Nurse is tool load monitoring and tool life management along with many other features.

Not only is the AS200 powerful and adaptable but it is also compact – Nakamura-Tome claim a smallest-in-class footprint of just 1650 x 1600mm.

There are linear guide ways on all axes and a box guideway on the x-axis, the driven tools are stepless direct belt driven and both the X and Z axes feature fast rapid traverse.

The Nakamura-Tome AS-200 Milling and Turning Centre is available from the Engineering Technology Group.

The machine is available from stock.
