Nakamura has now entered what it claims is a 'new era of multi-tasking' with its new NTJ-100 line of twin spindle turning centres. Offering bar capacities that include 42, 51 and 65mm diameter with up to 54 turning tools and 24 milling tools, the new NTJ-100 Series is ideal for complex components and one-hit machining applications.

As standard, the NTJ-100 has a B-axis with a swivel range of 182 degrees to accommodate a wide variety of milling tools and operations. The work envelope provides a maximum turning diameter of 175mm and a turning length of 678mm. This provides sufficient capacity for small to medium sized turned parts.

To permit maximum productivity and material removal rates, the NTJ-100 has a powerful left and right spindle that both generate a power output of 11/7.5kW with over 38N/m of torque. This impressive power output is also installed in the tooling turrets with the upper turret generating a power output of 7.1kW that drives a 6000rpm spindle. With 24+6 tool configuration plus 12 driven tool stations on the upper turret, this B-axis delivers outstanding material removal rates and flexibility.

With regard to the lower turret, 24 indexing positions are available for the 5.5kW driven 6000rpm spindle. Like the upper turret, the lower tool station gives the customer 12 driven tool posts to maximise productivity, capability and flexibility whilst reducing set-ups and tool changeovers.

To dampen vibration and improve surface finishes and tool life when heavy cutting, the NTJ-100 is a sturdy 10,000kg machine that requires 4m by 2.1m of floor space.
