XYZ rewards long service with new roles.

XYZ Machine Tools has rewarded two of its longest serving employees with new roles within the company that will strengthen its existing sales team and also enhance the support that it provides to the education and training sector.

With over 40 years’ service with XYZ Machine Tools between them there is little that Kerry Kidd and Martin Burton do not know about the Burlescombe, Devon-based machine tool company or its customers. So when Kerry was offered the newly created role of Education Sales Director there was really only one candidate to fill the post he was leaving behind, with Martin assuming the role of National Sales Manager that Kerry had held for many years.

Speaking of the new role that sparked these changes at XYZ Machine Tools Kerry Kidd says: 'Education is fast becoming a significant part of XYZ’s business and that calls for more hands -on management of that side of the business. As part of my new role I will work closely with XYZ’s Area Sales Managers to identify potential educational facilities, where our products could be used. The Government is acutely aware of the importance of vocational training, as evidenced by its support, and the setting up of, UTC’s (University Technical Colleges). Each of these, as well as existing training establishments present good opportunities for XYZ and its products'.

In taking over from Kerry as National Sales Manager Martin is full of enthusiasm and will make full use of his 23 years’ experience working for the company. As he explains: 'I started at XYZ building and refurbishing machines before moving onto the service department and then becoming an applications engineer. This face-to-face contact with customers led to an opportunity to move into sales in 1996, before being asked to become production manager some seven years ago. The opportunity to head up the team of XYZ Area Sales Managers is an exciting prospect and one of my first challenges will be to appoint a new Sales Manager for the Oxford area. I will also be seeing plenty of the UK’s motorway network as I will be travelling around the country working alongside my colleagues and also being instrumental in setting up the new XYZ showroom in Newcastle and getting it prepared for the open day event there'.
