New Vertical Turning Line from TDT Technology

Added to MTDCNC by TDT Technology on 21 March 2016

Not only is TDT Technology renowned for its expertise in horizontal turning machines and the respective applications, but now the company has turned its attention to vertical turning with the introduction of the new line of IMT Intermato vertical turning centres.

For over 30 years, IMT Intermato S.p.A has been designing, manufacturing and optimising machines for the machining of light alloy wheels and additional turned parts. IMT Intermato S.p.A. placed itself as reference point not only for the users but also for the manufacturers of automotive wheels that have been inspired by the company's innovations and ideas.

The NMT Series of vertical turning centres that are now available from TDT Technology are offered in four variants, the 12.16, the15.18, the 16.20 and the 18.20. The range offers a table diameter of 1200, 1500, 1600 and 1800mm respectively with a maximum turning diameter of 1600, 1800 and 2000mm. This spacious work area is matched by the turning height that ranges from 1300mm to 2m with a maximum workpiece weight of up to 18 tonnes.

To machine such huge parts, the NMT line has a two speed gearbox with maximum spindle speeds from 280 to 400rpm. Of course, the heavy duty cutting of large parts needs to be placed upon a robust foundation; and with a maximum machine weight from 32,000kg for the smallest 12.16 variant and 42,000kg for the largest machine, the NMT Series is the best machine for high material removal rates on large parts.

The tool change system is offered as a chain type configuration with 24, 30 or a 40 tool stations or as a disc type system with 12 to 16 tool posts. With regard to the milling spindle, the NMT Series has an ISO50 Capto configuration that works in conjunction with a 3000rpm spindle motor that generates 1100Nm of torque from the 22/28kW spindle motor. What this means for the end user is unparalleled stock removal rates, stability and surface finishes.
